SPD faction wants to make the district more insect-friendly

Before the background of the decrease of insects the SPD district parliamentary group asks the district administration to answer some questions. The comrades ask among other things for reasons for the insect death in the district Kitzingen and want to know whether there are surveys over the kinds in this country. The SPD would also like to see an overview of small “natural areas”, according to a press release from the party.

In addition, the parliamentary group offers to invite the Federal Chairman of the German Beekeepers’ Association, Peter Maske from Stadtschwarzach-Schwarzenau, to a district council meeting for discussion.

For insect protection, the SPD submits several applications to the district council: On the one hand, wildflower meadows are to be planted on areas around district buildings. Likewise meadows and lawns are not to be mowed regularly. In addition the SPD proposes a district-wide competition for projects to the bee and insect protection. Finally the parliamentary group wants to let enlighten and motivate private garden owners that also they prefer a naturenear planting and do without pesticides. In addition specialized lectures for the general public are to be organized.

The SPD parliamentary group requests that the necessary funds for its proposals be included in the budget.
